Legendary opera diva, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, performed on the stage of the Richard Bonynge Concert Hall of the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre on Friday 15 March, to rapturous applause from a packed audience.
The star performer for a special Gala Benefit Concert, the event was a sell-out, with all funds raised going to towards Penrith Performing & Visual Arts (PP&VA) & Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia to to extend their work providing music for disadvantaged children, people with special needs, early intervention and aged care programs.

Having read an article about the work of Nordoff-Robbins in their local newspaper, Patty and Peter O’Keeffe contacted the Centre regarding their 14 year old grandson Patrick.
Patty and Pete had taken on, as they describe, “the incredibly rewarding” guardianship of Patrick when his mother, Jenny Craig, sadly died in 2010. They believe much of Patrick’s unexpected progress – he attends Kellyville high school special needs unit – is down to Jen’s persistence with comprehensive medical and therapeutic interventions for her son who has Autism, the muscular wasting disease Myotonic Dystrophy and intellectual delay.
