Volunteers

June Webster

Up until August 2006 June Webster was responsible for coordinating the Outreach Programs in schools funded by the Area Assistance Scheme, NSW Department of Infrastructure and Community Services as Community Development Worker. The aim of the project was to bring the experience of music therapy to local primary schools.

Most of June’s working life has been with children and adults with special needs. It was while working in that capacity at Warrah School for Curative Education, Dural that she first encountered music therapy with Clive and Carol Robbins. June says that: ‘Needless to say I have been a devotee ever since. It is a privilege and passion to foster the work of Nordoff-Robbins and the Golden Stave Music Therapy Centre.’

June retains her relationship with Nordoff-Robbins through her generous offer to continue with us as a volunteer, for which we are very grateful.

Neil D'Mello

Neil D'Mello has been working as a volunteer musician for the music therapy in primary schools project funded by the NSW Government's Area Assistance Scheme. Overseen by the then Community Development Worker, June Webster, and music therapists Joanne McIntyre and Anna Chapman, Neil is a shining example of the volunteering spirit. As an intensive care nurse at Nepean Hospital, Neil rearranged his full-time roster to commit to a full day each week to working with the children at Werrington public school, sharing his keyboard, guitar and singing skills.

Neil says that 'After the emotional and physical demands of my job, being part of this Nordoff-Robbins project is therapy for me too!'
